Matt,
Stick with a plain ol' Senseo. Of all trhe machines, it really is the simplest to operate and offers the best tasting coffee. Ignore Consumer Reports claim that there is a limited selection of coffee and that you'll need two pods to make a drinkable cup. Even the best pod coffee isn't going to be as strong as plain ol' drip. However, if you use quality pods such as those from Wolfgang Puck or Fratello, you will produce a nicely drinkable morning cup of coffee. Unlike Senseo pods, with quality pods, you do not need two pods to make a stronger cup of coffee.
25 cents to 50 cents a cup is approximately correct. But, there is absolutely no need to double the cost to make a strong cup of coffee. Consumer Reports article is incorrect in that respect. Very incorrect. Just buy quality pods from a reputable internet vendor such as coffeewhiz.com. Buy enough in one order to earn free shipping. You'll end up with possibly several months worth of coffee. One pod. Insert pod in machine. Press the two cup button. Voila. A mug of drinkable coffee
I have a Senseo and love it. My mom has a SimpleHuman pod brewer. Very nice. The Senseo produces a slightly better cup of coffee and can use a marginally wider variety of pods. No need to get the Senseo Supreme. the plain ol' model is sufficient, especially since it can be had for less than half the cost of the supreme model (or the Simplehuman) if you time your purchase well.
