Discussion: Washers > Whirlpool GHW9150PW0 Problem!

John,  I went to YouTube (website) and typed in "whirlpool duet" and found this video:

Whirlpool Duet Washer Water Pump Clean Out

This poster claims that this can be a cause of the F11 error.
I hope you might look at this and tell me what you think.
Also,  what tool is needed to remove the front lower panel of the washer.

Thanks!

A slow or NO drain condition will trigger an "F 02" error message.

If you wish to examine the pump strainer---unplug the washer and remove the (3) screws at the bottom of the access cover. This cover is on the front of the washer below the door.

Once removed--you'll see a removeable cap that is on the pump housing. Even if there is no visible water in the tub--you'll still need a few towels to soak up the inevitable gush of water when this cap is removed.

Check the strainer and the pump body for coins and other debris.

When done, re-install.

A restricted or blocked drain will NOT trigger an "F 11" error message.

Thank you for this wonderful thread!
We also have a Whirlpool GHW9150PW0 with an F11 problem.
The first time it happened, we got the machine to restart and finish the load which contained two heavy bulky items.
Then we got several normal loads through it without problems.
Yesterday the F11 problem occurred again.  It also had a heavy bulky item in the load.
First thought was the problem might be caused by an unbalanced load.
Managed to restart and finish the load but even got the F11 at the end.
Next thought was the problem was in the wiring. Perhaps an oxidized connection caused by a humid environment. But the basement area does not seem overly humid.
Then found your thread on the internet. Am now ready to work on it.
Sounds like the connections are the problem.
Oxidized connections can be fixed by scraping off the oxide.  This is achieved by moving the connection back and forth - no need to disconnect and reconnect. (This is done while electric power is disconnected from the washer.)
No need to replace wiring harness unless really bad oxidation.
Then will have to determine how to reduce oxidation in the future.
Thanks for your thread!

Ran a test load through the washer last night after reseating the control harness connectors.
It is working great!
If you try this yourself please note that the connectors all have seating locks on them. You must release the lock to unseat the connector or to move it back and forth.  Make sure that when you are finished the connector is fully in place and the lock engaged to prevent the connector from backing out.
Some of the connectors on the Control module have locks which are difficult to disengage.  If you do not understand how to disengage the locks, it is better to leave the connector alone than to risk breaking the locks.
The thin blue wires on my machine are the ones that carry the communications.  I suspect the thin black ones transmit activating signals.  The heavier wires aro for power.  Don't get yourself zapped!  Make sure there is no power to the washer while you are working on it.
To keep from becoming confused, do not remove more than one connector at a time.  When two similar connectors are side by side, the connectors have a color code on them.  Pay attention.  There is also sometimes unused places where you could plug in a connector where it doesn't belong.
I did not check the wiring harness itself.  I hope the wire is not just crimped to the connectors but soldered as well.  The purpose of solder is not to hold the pieces together, it is to prevent oxidation between the connected pieces.  Without solder the harness may have to be replaced more frequently than a harness which was made using solder.
Odor problems?  When not using leave the front door of the washer open so that it dries out. Make sure children cannot get into trouble when you leave the door open. The area the washier is in should not be damp or have a high humidity.
This is a nice machine. I like it.

I own a Whirlpool Duet GHW9150PWC, bought in Oct 2005.Today after loading the machine with laundry and filling the soap dispenser, when I pressed the start button I heard a loud POP noise. Washer began to fill with water and then the F11 error code came on and it stopped.
Do you have any idea what happened?? How I get the washer to start working again??
