Water in the dryer drum seems very unusual. I would check and see if somehow water is coming in from the vent hose. I would check the flap that is on the outside of the house where the water vapor from drying escapes. It might also be possible that if the dryer vent runs through a very cold area, water could condense and return to the dryer. Folks, any other possibilities you can think of?

We had that same problem.  There was so much lint blockage between the dryer vent and the opening on the outside of our house that air could not flow through.  We had to clean it all out.
