Discussion: Drills, saws, trimmers, etc. > Corded drill recommendation

I am a homeowner - not a contractor.  I have a few projects come up, then none for many months.  I use two drills.  One is a corded 3/8" variable speed Skill that I bought probably 25 years ago.  This gives me all the power I need, as my projects are near 110 volts, and I don't have to be concerned with having to charge a battery before starting a project or replacing one that died from old age.  I bought this drill because my prior corded drill had the handle between the front and back of the drill, so the motor housing pressed on the joint where my thumb extends from the palm of my hand - painful.  The handle at the back of the drill is best for me.  I have small hands so easily reaching and using the reversing switch is important also.

I also use a, believe it or not, 3.6 volt Black & Decker power screw driver.  It uses hex bits and has been used more than any other power tool I own except for my corded drill.  It is great for all the little things needed in a home.  Together, these two drills cover all I need.

I too wish Consumer Reports would soon rate corded drills, as my old Skill is showing signs of needing to be replaced.
