Can anyone give me any suggestions for a good food processor?  I like KitchenAid or Cuisinart but not sure about the price since I don't plan on using it everyday.  I'm really looking for a tool to help me with my cooking tasks for the holidays.

Any suggestions?

I just replaced my 30 years old Cusinart with the top rated Kitchenaid KFP750. I got it for $129.99 on Amazon.com and Kitchenaid has a $20 rebate. I have only made bread crumbs and shredded cheese with the new Kitchenaid so far. It did great.  I like the storage box and 4 cup mini bowl that came with the Kitchenaid.

Apparently Kitchenaid does not make them like they used to, they break down easily. While I do have Cuisinart that I bought ten years ago and it still work but I accidently broke it when the blade latch to machine , and we tried to pry to release it. So now , I need a new food processor and am shopping for one. Sadly, also a lot of cuisinart are now made in China and people are complaining that they also break down easily.

Kitchenaid will last you only between one to three years while Cuisinart will be two years or so. Make sure to hold on to that warranty. Or if you can buy an extended warranty.

I do have a kitchen aid mixer the most powerful one, 6 quart. And it did not even last two years. We looked into it , it was the gears, they worn out. Its true that they are all made of metal. But cheap metal, worn out all the time. Have to replace the metal gears every six or so months. I had to used my cuisinart food processor to make dough. Till now.  i read the same problems with Kitchen aid food processor.

I am cautiously looking into Cuisinart, making sure that there would be extended warranty if I buy one. But if there are other brands out there, please post it.

Gee, you beat me; I thought I must have the oldest Cuisinart food processor around .. one of the first things I bought when I moved out on my own 28 years ago! For the first time, I had trouble shredding cheese the other day; thank God the last thing I had to do for a big party I was having. I think there are little cracks around the lid latches, so I figure it's time to buy a new one too. I'd automatically just buy another Cuisinart, but no one "makes 'em like they used to", so I decided to check here for feedback.

i have my original cuisinart DLC-10 bought about 1976 .replaced bowl once and works perfectly.
My mothers kitchen aid small (industrial) stand mixer is at least 65 years old and works very nicely except for an ocassional mild shock.Grandmas waffle maker is surely 80 years old and works but requires a brave operator and insulated gloves.
