Discussion: Other kitchen appliances > power Over-rated CuisinArt Stand Mixer
1 of 2

Hi everybody:

I purchased an 800 watt Cuisinart stand mixer recently. During trial uses, I feel it has less power than My 475 watt Kitchenaid stand mixer, based on noise level, heat generated on same amount of flour and water. My conclusion is the Cuisinart overrated the stand mixer. Anybody know how to measure power?

Thanks.

James

Hi James. First, I must admit I am no expert in these matters. My own research has suggested that wattage is a misleading parameter for mixer power. Most of the mixers available at reasonable prices are belt driven. They can't handle nearly as much dough as gear driven mixers. A good way to measure power is by how many cups of flour it can handle, or the weight of the dough it can handle. But those numbers are hard to come by. Usually, the manufacturer can tell you. Hope that helps. Abba.
