Discussion: Choosing a minivan > Dodge vs Honda

Sorry to be late on this but I have a1999 Grand Caravan SE that has been wonderful.  No transmission problems, the 3.8 engine is smooth, powerful and fuel economic.  I also had a 2005 EXL Odyssey that my son now has.  There are 145000 miles on the Dodge and 75000 on the Honda, which also has been a fine van.  Overall, price and fetures primary, I'd go with the Dodge.  All thase miles and just minor things to fix that one would expect.  I think it handles better too.

Dodges have so many issues, including air conditioning, transmission and purge canister (emission system) failures needing replaced. A customer of ours had an 08 Caravan with 60K on it and needed air conditioning replacement (not sure which components). Even if it's never serviced, that's still too soon to be experiencing problems. Dodges are not near the quality as Honda, Toyota or even Kia. Stay away from Dodge at all costs!

The Honda Odyssey is the top pick minivan but has below average reliability. The Chryslers have well below average reliability but are the safest
