Looking at a 2013 Ford C-MAX and found they don't have spare tires. Instead they come with an inflator that is rated as good for up to 200km at up to 80km /hr.
I've never used one of these and wonder how well they work. Most of our driving is short trips in the city and close by suburbs, but my wife frequently drives to the local mountains to run and and ski hills to, well, ski. So driving at night in poor weather (snow, rain, etc.) in lightly travelled areas is not unusual.
Any thoughts would be welcome.

Many thanks, TImothy - I really hate to see this be a deciding factor but it's pretty significant. I am one of those "be-prepared" types, and while I don't really care if a tire shop is unhappy but still taking my money, I do care that sidewall damage can't be handled by these kits. That link was very valuable.
The C-MAX we're looking at already has small enough storage capacity that tossing in a spare isn't practical.
Thanks again for the info, and the fast response.
