Discussion: Choosing tires > "Red Line performance tires"

Can anyone recommend a "red line" performance tire in size P215 70R 15?  Trying to spruce up my "muscle car wannabe."  Looking for new tires, not vintage.   Thanks in advance for your input. Trische

Coker Tire sells tires that you may be interested in.

BFGoodrich makes a red line tire in your size, but at close to $200 each, you'll be paying dearly for them:

This is the only red line tire in that size they list.  It is a radial tire, but I'm unsure about the rest of the construction details.  Things like, is it a modern tread compound, molded into a classic tread design, or is it truly a "new" 50 year old tire?  I'm not sure.  You may call Coker and find out some more information on those.

The UTQG score is 540BB, which means the tire should last long enough, but with a traction score of only a "B", it's probably not all that grippy of a tire.  Many modern original equipment tires receive that same score (a "B"), and they're not typically heralded as possessing the best traction out there.  But, I don't think you'll find much selection of red line tires, so this may be your only choice.  The tread depth is 12/32", so it's got deep tread.

Cheers,
Jason

Thanks, Jason, for your input.  It has given me a starting point.  I do care about traction (because I drive fast and corner hard) but never drive in snow or ice and rarely in rain (I live in SDO) so something pretty average in that respect should do fine.  This may be an exercise in futility as I'd like to match the red lines up with a set of Magnum 500 5 spoke wheels.  If I don't restrain myself, I might wind up with wheels & tires worth much more than the vehicle.  Oh well..............Take care, Patricia

Why a "redline" tire? You can get the GY TripleTred and Michelin Hydroedge in that size and those are great performing tires.
